Empowering youth in Malawi though access to education.
SEED Malawi is a Canadian Charity working to improve the educational outcomes of youth in Northern Malawi.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
For 10 years SEED Malawi has been supporting around 100 Students per year in Northern Malawi to access Secondary school, thankfully this is no longer necessary.
In January 2026 the Malawi Government has finally made Secondary Schools tuition free. SEED Malawi is still heavily involved in 5 Secondary schools around Rumphi. The primary activities are supporting boarding fees for students that are not close enough to travel daily to school. Also giving encouragement and support with maintaining a strong link with the school and working to prepare as many students as possible for tertiary studies.
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
SEEDMalawi is currently supporting 18 University Students across Malawi.
These students were selected amongst the high achievers at the Secondary Schools that have been partners for 10+years. These students receive a full scholarship that covers tuition, accommodation and upkeep. If the students maintain a minimum level of achievement they will be supported to the completion of their studies.
THE ENVIRONMENT
156,000 trees planted from 2019 to 2025.
This planting program has slowed in recent years, but there is ongoing support from the students to care for the trees to create forests which can support the community in the future.
ABOUT US
SEED Malawi has been supporting students since 2009.
In Canada SEED Malawi is organized by Robert Borzychowski. Robert works to fundraise locally and coordinate the programs in Malawi.
In Malawi, Lowani Mfundawanga is selecting the students and coordinating the planting campaigns.
SEED Malawi is founded on the simple belief that education is the foundation to development. Every effort is made to put nearly 100% of donations directly into the programming taking place in Malawi.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
At the moment we are small, but interested to grow.
You could support our scholarship program to expand the number of students supported through secondary school, or support individual students to pursue tertiary studies. You can also choose to support additional environmental efforts to bring on additional staff to further the green transformation.
All donations in Canada are tax deductible and donors would receive a donation receipt.
